Replacement Vintage, Modern & Custom Jazzmaster Pickups
Creamery Custom Handwound Replacement Pickup Ugrades for Jazzmaster
Vintage Jazzmaster pickups are unique - Their sound synonymous with such diverse scenes as the 50s/60s Surf sounds, late '70 post-punk, New Wave & alternative scenes, through shoegaze and effects laden styles of the '80s/90's onwards to modern day alternative bands - Some scenes, bands and guitarists seem to click with the offset Jazzmaster style.
They're also one of my favourite pickups - The original Jazzmaster pickup, unlike many of the modern Fender or Squier reissues, had a flatter/wider (pancake) coil roughly 1/8" high. Its this unique design that helps to give the pickup that classic darker, warmer yet still very much a single coil voice.
It has that fat, clear 'spank' to the sound unlike any other single coil.
The larger surface area of coil 'senses' more of the string, resulting in that fatter, fuller sound. The individual pole piece magnets help keep clarity & string definition and when combined with the shape of coil, gives that unique Jazzmaster sound. From classic '50s surf to modern day effects driven styles, they're versatile guitars to suit a variety of sounds & styles.
If you're looking for something to the left of classic rock & blues, welcome to my custom, handwound, replacement Jazzmaster Pickups.
All my replacement Jazzmaster pickups are handwound here at my workshop in Manchester. I don;t have them all boxed up ready to send out, each one is custom made to order.
PLEASE NOTE: All my standard 6-Pole Replacement Jazzmaster Pickups are vintage correct to US standard 51mm Pole spacing but I can create a custom set with alternative pole spacing if you need - Just get in touch and let me know. If you have a Squier or CIJ Jazzmaster your covers may have a slightly wider 52mm pole spacing - But I do have replacement covers to fit.

Classic & Vintage Replacement Jazzmaster Pickups
Classic '58
Magnets Alnico 2 or 5 Coil Wire 42AWG Lead Wire Vintage Cloth 'Pushback' Bridge Output 8.2k Neck Output 7.5k The Classic Jazzmaster Sound
The Fat, Short & Wide 'Pancake' Single Coil Design
The original Jazzmaster pickup, unlike a number of the modern Fender or Squier reissues, had a flatter/wider (pancake) coil roughly 1/8" high. Its this unique design that helps give the pickup that classic darker, warmer yet still very much a single coil voice.
From classic '50s surf to modern day effects driven styles, a versatile design to suit a variety of sounds.
Unique, fuller & warmer than a traditional Strat or Tele - The classic late '50s Jazzmaster pickup still retains that vintage Fender single coil clarity but with added crunch & spank. Wound to vintage specs with the correct short/wide single coil of 42 AWG coil wire and vintage style cloth covered lead wire. A great vintage Jazzmaster crunchy bridge pickup, spank in the middle with that warmer sweetness in the neck position.
Classic Jazzmaster pickups had short Alnico 5 magnets. I make my Classic '58s with either the correct short Alnico 5 magnets or short Alnico 2 for a slightly more rounded Jazzmaster sound, a little rounder, a little less brighter.
Classic & Vintage Replacement Jazzmaster Pickups
Modern '58
Magnets Alnico 2 or 5 Coil Wire 42AWG Lead Wire Vintage Cloth 'Pushback' Bridge Output 8.2k Neck Output 7.5k Classic Design, Modern Take
A More Modern, Attacking Take on the Classic Jazzmaster Sound
With the Modern '58, I wanted to take the classic design and just give it more output without losing its essential characteristics. Designed after a number of guitarists got in touch requesting the classic sound, but with the ability to push that bit more - Keeping the same brighter, crunchy, more attacking spankier sounds without straying into the mid-range.
Essentially the same pickup as the Classic '58 but with taller, stronger magnets for a more attacking take on the classic Jazzmaster Sound.

Hotter / Higher Output Jazzmaster Pickups
'Extra Width' Jazzmaster
Magnets Alnico 2 or 5 Coil Wire 43AWG Lead Wire Vintage Cloth 'Pushback' Bridge Output 12.2k Neck Output 11.0k More in the Mid-Range
Fatter, Fuller, Warmer Jazzmaster Sounds
Wound to hotter specs with a short/wide single coil of thinner 43wg coil wire for much more mid-range. A hotter, rounder Jazzmaster pickup than the '58 and while still retaining that vintage Fender single coil clarity, the classic crunch & spank is fatter, fuller - For those Jazzmaster players who wish they could roll back the brightness a little without losing clarity & definition.
Hotter / Higher Output Jazzmaster Pickups
Jazzmaster 'Dark Star'
Magnets Alnico 2, 5 or 8 Coil Wire 43AWG Lead Wire Vintage Cloth 'Pushback' Bridge Output 14.6k Neck Output 12.2k End of the Line
Higher Output, Darker, Warmer Jazzmaster Sounds
Wound to much hotter specs but with a taller coil height to help keep focus, thinner 43awg coil wire for more mid-range & taller, stronger magnets to keep clarity, string definition & punch, The Creamery 'Dark Star' is a custom Jazzmaster pickup designed for those who want more warmth and a darker, much fatter single coil sound from their Jazzmaster without changing any of the electrics. Jazzmasters usually have 1meg pots which allow much more brightness through. These darker Jazzmaster pickups balance this.
Weaker Alnico 2 magnets help to give an overall warmer, darker, rounder sound whereas the stronger Alnico 5 and 8 increasingly give more punch & attack.

Brighter, tighter version of my full-size Classic '71 Wide Range / Thinline Humbucker repros due to the slightly narrower coils and lower output. This is my smaller humbucker sized Baby '71 Wide Range Humbucker desigend to fit a standard Jazzmaster without any modifications to your guitar whatsoever.
Indvidual Threaded Alnico or original Spec CuNiFe Magnets
Choose from stronger, brighter, more attacking sounding Alnico 5 - Slightly warmer, sweeter sounding Alnico 2 or my custom manufactured CuNiFe Magnets which are very similar to Alnico 2 but more vintage correct to the original WRHB design. CuNiFe does carry a higher price as they just cost more for me to have them custom manufactured but after being asked on a weekly basis for the past number of years, I finally gave in and had them manufactured.
Classic 'doubled up' single coil sounds, fat & full - Great clarity and string definition with a bright warmth. Individual threaded pole magnets allow you to dial in each individual string to shape your sound and match the radius of your neck. A warmer, fatter mid-range than standard single coils and with a higher output they've more clarity, bite and spank than a standard humbucker. They're great for breaking up an amp or played just on the edge of break-up for a great fat bridge sound akin to a "doubled-up" Tele and a neck with a bright sweetness still with the warmth of an overwound pickup. Thinner custom manufactured baseplate and internal ferrous reflector plate & standard size Humbucker bobbins with medium speed scatterwound coils.
PLEASE NOTE: These pickups are a direct drop-in replacement for standard Jazzmaster Pickups.

Custom & Alternative Design Jazzmaster Pickup Upgrades
Custom '13 for Jazzmaster
Magnets 3 types of Custom Made Magnets. Alnico 2 or 5 Half-Bar & Alnico 5 Threaded Rods Coil Wire 42AWG Lead Wire Simple 3-Way or Modern 4-Way Bridge 8.4k Neck 7.4k Custom Designed with Bernard Sumner of Joy Division / New Order
Now available in standard Jazzmaster size - Direct drop-in replacementsThree types of custom magnets for crunchy, crisp, clear & defined lower strings - sweeter, creamier, milkier higher strings for a richer sound. Custom designed with Bernard Sumner of Joy Division / New Order.
We worked on the design of this pickup together when he wanted something edgier from the Gibson LP Jnr Double Cutaway he picked up. He has a number of vintage guitars (and old Vox amps) but wanted something different for the new live dates and recording. We spent time playing his old original Gibson ES 330 that just sounded perfect, just a really sweet yet gritty sound that really snarled when pushed. It has Dogear P90s but they just had something more than the standard P90 sound but the two issues he had where, it had just been too precious to take out on tour for a number of years and with it having single coil P90s, it hummed, both live and in the studio with all the synths & equipment. In comparison, his Gibson SG and the early 90s LP Jnr he picked up just sounded a little sterile in comparison.
Clearer, more defined E, A & D strings - Creamier, Warmer G, B & E strings
So the task was not to recreate the sound of the ES 330 but take its characteristics and make a similar Dogear P90 size pickup to fit the new LP Jnr that kept the colour and edge to the sound but with clearer, more defined and ‘punkier' lower E, A & D strings whilst somehow being warmer, creamier & milkier on the higher G, B & E strings. So rather than try and make some kind of hum-cancelling P90 we decided to just start again from scratch and make a new design of pickup to balance these two ideas, clearer, more defined & crunchier E, A & D strings whilst somehow being able to roll off the treble slightly on the higher G, B & E strings for less of a single coil sound and more towards the richer, fuller humbucker sound. To get the crisper, crunchier lower notes in a humbucker often means less coil and a lower output which can give the higher strings more treble - the task was to reconcile these two ideas, clear, crunchier lower strings with warmer highs with a higher output to push the amp a little more.
This is where the unique design came about after a few different prototypes - Individual sets of custom made & sized threaded rod magnets of opposing polarity and different strengths underneath the lower E, A & D strings with a double pole humbucker design underneath the G, B & E strings, again with custom made magnets hidden away underneath the offset coils for these strings. Outputwise, we wanted it to really push his naturally brighter vintage VOX AC30 amps for a really attacking, edgier sound.
Road Testing on Tour
He took the final prototype out on tour and chose to showcase the new design live onstage as they played their first new material in years at the Lollapalooza festival (I was streaming it live)
After the gigs, and with the pickup performing well onstage he asked me to make a bridge & neck humbucker sized set to the same spec for his ’62 SG - These are the same ones.
He took these back out on the road and gave them a good road test on the short US tour later that month and his final review was, "Back home now and gave the pickups a good trial on tour. Verdict fantastic! Improved both my guitars. The humbuckers have bags of tone and character! The old Gibson ones sound cold and neutral in comparison. Totally pleased. You’ve sure done something right and well impressed the band, me and the crew! I’ve been bigging you up to everyone!"
A great replacement humbucker for a standard Jazzmaster size/shape.
Magnet Options
The magnets under the lower E, A & D strings are custom sized, custom made threaded Alnico 5 whereas the lower G, B & E strings can have either Alnico 2 or the stronger Alnico 5 - Alnico 2, being a little weaker 'holds' the strings a little less, allowing them to vibrate a little more, adding a little more warmth to the overall sound whereas Alnico 5, being that bit stronger, 'holds' the strings a little more for a little brighter attack & focus.

Alt '88 Jazzmaster - Mid-Range
Magnets Alnico 2 or 5 Coil Wire 43AWG Lead Wire Vintage Cloth Covered Bridge Output 10.3k Neck Output 9.4k Alt '88 Jazzmaster Pickup - Mid-Range
Loud, Quiet, Loud - Fatter, Fuller with more mid-range. Designed for more Indie/Alternative styles & sounds
The Alt '88 pickup was inspired by the alternative music scene of the mid-to-late '80s and after feedback from Jazzmaster players the design has now been split into two distinct versions. Whereas the "Alt '88 - Treble" uses thicker 42awg coil wire and taller, stronger rod magnets for a brighter, more cutting sound, the "Alt '88 - Mid-Range" uses the same taller, stronger rod magnets but is wound with thinner 43awg coil wire for a fatter, fuller, more mid-range voice. Both have been designed to have similar, higher, more powerful outputs - the difference comes from how they're voiced.
With less in the higher frequencies the "Alt '88 - Mid-Range" sits in the band mix better, not as dominant as the 'Treble' version, a little sweeter, less brittle, a little fuller, a little darker - the more melancholy side to its brash alternative.
Alt '88 Jazzmaster Pickup - Magnet Choices
With magnets, Alnico 2 is that bit weaker so ‘holds’ the strings a little less, allowing them to vibrate that little more to add a little more warmth & resonance to the overall sound. Alnico 5 is slightly stronger so therefore ‘holds’ the strings that little more for slightly more attack, focus, brightness and a little increased output. Magnets don’t have ‘tone’ but they do have strength to varying degrees which has an effect on the overall sound, all other things being equal. Alnico 2 can be great to tame a bright bridge sound whereas a stronger magnet can help to keep clarity & definition in the naturally darker neck position.
The Alt '88 range has been a real labour of love and these pickups and have gone through numerous changes before launch just to get them right. A great Jazzmaster rhythm or lead pickup if you want more bite with more of an an alternative/leftfield sound. The Alt '88 Jazzmaster Neck can also be RW/RP if required.

Jazzmaster Dark Line
Magnets Custom Alnico 5 Duo Coil Wire 43AWG Lead Wire Vintage Cloth with separate ground wire for baseplate Bridge Output 11.4k Neck Output 9.7k Dirtier, Grittier, Alternative Jazzmaster Sounds
I designed these after conversations with Jazzmaster players who wanted something darker, grittier, something more savage & physical from their Jazzmaster, but keeping a tight, razor focus to really cut through the band mix - Not a traditional rock, indie or blues sound, something much more aggressive & visceral. Essentially the idea was to design a raw, more primal sounding pickup to work with the existing Jazzmaster wiring for pure alternative sounds and styles of playing. Much tighter, much more focussed sounds than my Sonic '60s, these were designed specifically to play loud.
A single plated steel blade sits at the heart of the design inside a much more tightly scatterwound coil of thinner 43awg coil wire, and I experimented with a variety of magnet grades and sizes until finally working on a duo of custom square bar Alnico 5s.
Available in a stark black or white open face design, the new Jazzmaster Dark Line pickups are direct drop-in replacements, designed to turn that Fender or Squier Jazzmaster into a much more powerful guitar - I spent a long time getting the design of these just right, putting them aside, coming back to them - a real labour of love.

12 Pole Humbucker for Jazzmaster
Magnets Alnico 2, 3 or 5 Coil Wire 43AWG Lead Wire Simple 3-Way or Modern 4-Way Bridge Output 12.2k Neck Output 9.8k Creamery Custom Handwound Replacement 12-Pole Humbucker for Jazzmaster - Designed for True Single Coil Splits
Great string definition & clarity due to the 12 individual rod magnets that offer true single coil sounds when split. The coils & Alnico rod magnets give this humbucker a rich, biting attack, the 43awg wire warms the sound with more in the mid-range while giving a higher output, enabling a great split single coil sound.
NOTE: I can stagger the magnets to follow your neck radius. Just let me know whether you have a 7.25", 9.5", 12" etc etc neck radius and I'll stagger the magnets accordingly. This way you can keep a good action on your setup.

P90 for Jazzmaster
Magnets Alnico 2, 3, 4 or 5 Coil Wire 42AWG Lead Wire Simple 3-Way Bridge '53, '57 7.5k, 8.3k Neck '53, '57 7.1k, 7.5k A true P90 pickup for Jazzmaster
A direct replacement for standard Jazzmaster Pickups
A lower vintage output, less attacking pickup but with a wide dynamic range. This is my brighter P90 similar to those old pickups of the early '50s. Fatter than a single coil. Still with that fat P90 sound, great for warm clean tones part way between a single-coil and humbucker the Classic '53 P90 pickup won't drive an amp as much as my Classic '57 P90. The Alnico 2 being a slightly weaker magnet than the 4 or 5, gives a warmer, more vintage style tone. A great P90 pickup for those jazzier sounds. Alnico 4 is a little clearer than the Alnico 2 but ever so slightly warmer than the Alnico 5. The Alnico 5 magnets give a great bright P90 single-coil attack. NOTE: Magnets don't have 'tone' but they do have strength and this has an effect on the overall sound, all other things being equal.
The Classic '57 P90 is higher in output than my Classic '53 giving that large fat P90 full-bodied drive & sound yet still keeping the warmth with real attack, grunt and definition. A great lead P90 sound for a bridge position pickup, sweet warmth in the neck. Single conductor, braided shield lead wire.
For a set I'd recommend an Alnico 2 in the Bridge & Alnico 4 or 5 in the Neck.
Single conductor, braided shield lead.

P90 'Dark Star' for Jazzmaster

Hotter, more powerful & dirtier, grittier bridge position pickup
The Creamery 'Dark Star' is a hotter, fatter, dirtier, grittier & much more powerful P90 pickup for Jazzmaster with a unique full, higher output sound while still retaining much of that classic P90 grit. A modern rich & raw sound with a large, full-bodied drive whilst keeping great clarity and definition, especially under gain & effects/pedals. A great modern lead take on the P90 sound for a bridge position playing. Single conductor, braided shield lead wire. Choose from Alnico 5, Alnico 8 or Ceramic options.
This is an altogether dirtier, grittier sound than my Jazzmaster 'Dark Star' true single coil version.

Sweet '14 Jazzmaster
Magnets Alnico 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 or Ceramic Coil Wire 43AWG Double Coated Plain Enamel Lead Wire 2-Way with separate ground for Cover & Baseplate Bridge Output 6.3k Neck Output 5.3 Custom Designed for a sweet, clear, rich & defined punchy, snappy sound
I've been working on this on and off for a couple of years, trying various specifications and modifications to get the design just right for that rich clean, snappy sound with great spank.
I've made parts by hand, had custom parts manufactured specifically and finally, finally, after many, many prototypes & testing sessions they're ready - The new Sweet '14 Foil style pickups. I wanted to create a customisable, standard Jazzmaster size fatter single coil pickup that had the sweetness & warmth of the original Gold Foils whilst keeping great clarity & string definition with a modern punch & snap that really has a powerful sound when cranked - to really cut through the mix.
The thinner double coated plain enamel 43AWG coil wire helps push the sound that little bit more towards the mid-range for the sweetness I was after and although my personal preference is for an Alnico 2 Bridge/Alnico 4 Neck I decided to offer the full range of magnet options for those who like to create their own combinations - The original 'Gold Foils' people love had weaker rubberised ferrite magnets and although I chose not to use these for the new Sweet '14 Rich Coil pickups as I just wanted something stronger, something a little more modern, I will be using these for the new 44awg true spec/size Gold Foils I'm launching once I've had all the covers & baseplates custom manufactured.
I wanted these pickups to be something different rather than simply re-casing the original design into a Jazzmaster size, as really, for this new Jazzmaster pickup, I just wanted more snap, more punch whilst keeping that rich sweetness. Ultimately I wanted to create really defined clean sounds that can be the basis for pedals & effects etc.
Magnets don't have 'tone' but what they do have is strength and the custom sizes I've had manufactured do affect the overall sound - all other things being equal. I prefer the Alnico 2 bridge as the slightly weaker magnets help to round out the sound that bit more in the naturally brighter bridge position, whereas the stronger Alnico 4 set helps to keep clarity, definition and snap in the naturally darker neck position.
I've also designed these with a taller coil wrapped around a custom made plated steel blade with a double set of Alnico or Ceramic magnets to really help drive the amp when required for a more modern sound.
Customisable Covers
I often get asked to make pickups with unique or different covers to suit a particular custom guitar and with this in mind, I decided to make these completely customisable with any design, colour or finish underneath the cover. Some prefer the old Gold or Silver Foil look whereas others have asked for patterns, prints even material, leather and textured card - to give a unique look and feel to the pickups.
You can select either the Gold or Silver Foil versions but if you'd like a truly custom version, just select 'Custom' from the dropdown menu and leave me a note at the checkout stage or just drop me an email telling a little more about what you have in mind.

Jazzmaster 'Sonic' Pickups
Sonic '60 for Jazzmaster
Magnets Alnico 2, 5 or Ceramic Coil Wire 42AWG Lead Wire Vintage Cloth Bridge Output 7.2k Neck Output 6.3k Richer, Sweeter Jazzmaster Sounds
With handwound coils pressed around the custom magnets and wax potted in a combination of paraffin & beeswax, my new Creamery Sonic '60 Jazzmaster replacement pickups give that richer, musical sound synonimous with the old classic Burns Tri-Sonic® design.
Geometry dictates they won't sound identical to the old 60s classics as the pickups are standard Jazzmaster size and I use my custom made thinner magnets inside the pressed coil, but they're designed & tested to be richer, sweeter and more rounded than standard Jazzmaster pickups.
Designed to fit a standard Jazzmaster guitar with no modifications needed
Unlike the larger originals, my Sonic '60 Jazzmaster pickups have been designed to fit a standard scratchplate & body cavity but with outputs of 7.2k & 6.3k respectively - they've been designed to balance the old vintage sounds with a modern spin for a richer, warmer, more rounded, musical sound than a standard Jazzmaster pickup set.
With a choice of magnets, you can choose to have a warmer or brighter version. Alnico 2 'holds' the strings a little less, allowing them to vibrate a little more freely giving a perceived slightly warmer, more resonant sound.
Ceramic, being stronger, holds the strings a little more giving a slightly more attacking, slightly brighter, more focussed, less richer sound.
Alnico 5 offers a slightly brighter, more attacking characteristic than Alnico 2 but a little more rounded than the ceramic option.

I designd these after feedback from players who loved the brighter standard Sonic '60s I made for them but wanted a fatter, hotter, more mid-range version in their 2nd Jazzmaster to compliment - Not everyone has two Jazzmaster so if you're looking for more mid-range to your sound, and want something a little different, an alternative to the classic brighter Jazzmaster pickup, then maybe the new Sonic '60 'Mid-Range' pickups could be for you.
Whereas the standard Sonic '60s are wound with thicker 42awg coil wire and are available in a variety of Alnico magnet choices, I spent a long time on the new 'Mid-Range' 43awg versions and concluded, after much testing, that the stronger Alnico 5 and Alnico 8 versions worked best. You can choose either based on your own preference, Alnico 8 being the strongest with a little more output and more cooler focus whereas the slightly weaker Alnico 5 is that little bit sweeter but with slightly less attack.

Hum-Cancelling Jazzmaster Pickups
Domino 'Split Coil'
Magnets Alnico 2 or Alnico 5 Coil Wire 42AWG Lead Wire Simple 3-Way Bridge Output 8.3k Neck Output 7.4k Hum Cancelling, Single Coil Voiced Pickups in a Standard Jazzmaster Size
Based on the old Wide Range Humbucker trick where the 6 hidden threaded rod magnets are removed to give a clear, hum-cancelling, fat single-coil sound. The difference with my 'Domino' pickups is that I've designed them to fit a standard Jazzmaster size, so you can have true hum-cancelling, noise-free single coil pickups voiced that will fit any standard Jazzmaster scratchplate and cavity.
Creamery 'Domino' Split-Coil, Hum-Cancelling Jazzmaster Pickups - Magnet Choices
With Alnico 2 magnets the overall sound is slightly warmer, slightly more resonant whereas with the slightly stronger Alnico 5 the overall sound is a little brighter, more attacking, more focussed with more punch - both with classic single coil sounds in a replacement Jazzmaster size, hum-cancelling pickup. A great pickup if you're after a noise-free, humbucker sized single coil sound.
Hum-Cancelling Jazzmaster Pickups
Fat Domino 'Split Coil'
Magnets Alnico 2 or Alnico 5 Coil Wire 42AWG Lead Wire Simple 3-Way Bridge Output 8.3k Neck Output 7.4k Fat 'Domino' - Hum-Cancelling Fat Single Coil Voiced pickup for Jazzmaster
A fatter bridge/neck pickup due to the mix of Taller & Shorter magnets. Where the standard Domino bridge/neck is split-coil design with a single coil voice in standard Jazzmaster size, the Domino Fat Bridge/Neck adds shorter/weaker magnets hidden underneath the cover. Each string has its own set of magnets. The difference with this fatter Domino is that the shorter size rod magnets hidden away help create an overall warmer & crunchier sound - More of a 'Doubled Up/Twin Coil' voice
Fatter than a single coil but not as beefed up as a humbucker or punchy/powerful as my Wide Range. Essentially a single coil with more presence & more crunch.
Hum-Cancelling Jazzmaster Pickups
Domino Dark Star 'Split Coil'
Magnets Alnico 2, 5 or 8 Coil Wire 43AWG Lead Wire Simple 3-Way Bridge Output 15.6k Neck Output 13.7k Hum-Cancelling darker, warmer Single Coil Voiced pickups in a Standard Jazzmaster Size
Wound to hotter specs than my regular Domino, The Creamery 'Dark Star' is a hotter, darker, warmer Jazzmaster hum-cancelling pickup with a unique fuller, much fatter, darker and higher output sound while still retaining much of that vintage single coil clarity. I've really designed it for those who want more warmth and a darker sound from their Jazzmaster in a hum-cancelling design without changing any of the electrics. Jazzmasters usually have 1meg pots which allow much more brightness through. These darker Jazzmaster pickups balance this.
Alnico 2 gives a warmer, darker sound whereas Alnico 5 and 8 give more punch & attack.
Creamery 'Domino' Split-Coil, Hum-Cancelling Jazzmaster Pickups - Magnet Choices
With Alnico 2 magnets the overall sound is warmer, slightly more resonant whereas with the slightly stronger Alnico 5 the overall sound is a little brighter, more attacking, more focussed with more punch - both with classic single coil sounds in a replacement Jazzmaster size, hum-cancelling pickup. A great pickup if you're after a noise-free, humbucker sized single coil sound with a much darker, warmer voice.

Creamery Jazzmaster Pickup Reviews
Thanks for the great feedback
Its great when I get positive feedback from customers, and good reviews & word-of-mouth really help the custom shop maker so with this in mind, I've created this page of reviews.
All the comments below were either emailed to me or posted to my Twitter, Facebook, Youtube or Instagram pages.
Have a read through what others are saying about my replacement Jazzmaster Pickups and get in touch if you'd like me to custom make some pickups for you. I don't have pickups all boxed up ready to send out, each order is custom made which means I can modify the specifications to suit you, your playing and your guitar.
It really means a lot
Hi J, Just fitted the new Jazzmaster pickups tonight. They sound great! Thanks.
Hello Jaime, The best liuther here in Rome did a perfect set up of my Jazzmaster, setting the pick up height too of course. So, now I can say your pick up are amazing. They got the sound I always wanted.
The neck pick-up is so much better than the SD Antiquity II I had.
The bridge pick up is wonderful. JM sound with P90 attitude I could say. It keeps everything I love of the JM sound, less "shrilly", very usefull with pedals (both overdrive and modulations).
My wife said "wow, rich and warm like a Gibson but with that Fender sound"
I'm very very happy and I'm even thinking to buy an Extra Width set for my vintage 77 Jazzmaster.
Hi Jaime, I installed them in my Warmoth Jazzmaster Tuesday and I have to say they sound incredible! I thought my Antiquity II's were nice but your pickups sound richer/fuller sonically better by far. I'm very pleased with your pickups. Thanks so much Jaime!
The pickup arrived the day after we exchanged mails last week, I just installed it and it sounds killer! Thanks for your kind responses and for being so helpful, Keep up the good work,
Hi Jaime, I recived the PU this week and it's great! It's exactly what I was looking for and totally balances with my JM2 in the neck.So thank you!
Pickups sound excellent, thank you for making them for me. Hopefully I will get years of enjoyment out of them. When I get a chance I will leave a positive note on your website. Enjoy the summer!
The pickup sounds awesome, it blends really nicely with the strat pickups, a warm and creamy humbucker tone! I especially like the split-sound, very wirey and thin, but it's a good kind of thin as opposed to the usual awful sounding thin, if that makes any sense :D Already used this setting on a recording session!
Just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with the extra width pickup you sent me - after getting it dialled in and balanced with the neck pickup it is absolutely PERFECT in this guitar, I wasn't expecting to be so impressed! The middle position is now superb (and you wound it the right way, the last few pickups I tried did NOT sound good in the middle position!) and the bridge alone is very well balanced, even clean. Really happy with it, thanks man!
Got them in. Absolutley superb!
Finally gave them a proper workout...Saints preserve us man, how did you do this? Amazing amazing amazing. Exactly what I wanted. I'm so grateful Jaime...thank you!!! My other main guitars are a '67 Hagstrom III and an early 70s Guild S90,and replacing those pickups would be a shanda, but the next time I find myself with a Jaguar, you will be hearing from me again.
Thank you again Jaime...I'm absolutely delighted! Will be posting to your FB page....
UPDATE: These Jazzmaster pickups are the shiznit. I love them. One cool thing I've noticed is that they respond more than other pickups to slight changes in height -- I've been able to play with the balance between the bridge and neck a within a pretty wide range just by moving them up and down. Cool. And they have a great middle-position sound. Anyway you're a genius.
I'd like to thank you for the wonderful JM bridge PU you made for me. It's just perfect soundwise.
3rd set of pickups..! Really love the extra width pickups in my Jazzmaster and that hot tele pickup just encourages my amp to break up like nothing else, glorious!
I'm currently recording an album and you wide range buckers and wide range Jazzmasters are going to be all over the album.
"She's alive! alive" was my first impressions after my first chords with your pickups. I have alredy had some upgrades on my main guitars and bass in the past but none of them lead me too this incredible sound Seriously I couldn't dream of such wonderfull sound. It's a real improvment.
Your vintage Jazzmaster pickups in my Jazzmaster which are very satisfying indeed!
These ‘Extra Width’ sound amazing ! I’m so pleased
I just got my guitar back with your WR pups (JM style) and love it!!!!
Hi Jaime, I love your jazzmaster Bridge pickup so much I have just ordered the jazzmaster p-90 set for my other Jazzmaster!!
Hi Jaime, Just to let you know that the Extra Width Jazzmaster pickups are great. They have a warm bluesy sound, yet still retain the characteristics of the Jazzmaster sound and work well with pedals. Thanks very much.
The vintage jazzmaster sets I got from you last time have been great!
It's been a few months now since I finished my guitar and I wanted to write and let you know That I'm extremely happy with the pickup set you made for me. The marriage between the bridge wide range and the 58 neck is amazing. Very happy! Thank you again!
Received it last weekend. Absolute pearler of a pickup, couldn't be any happier with it, it sounds incredible! Thank you so much!
Hi Jaime, my Jazzmaster pickups you made me at the beginning of the year sound incredible, the neck sounds so harmonically rich. They will be spending some studio time shortly so will send you a link if you want any sound clips for the site.
Well worth the wait they sound fantastic!
I have just installed you wide range humbuckers into a Jazzmaster for a customer. He found the Fender pickups to have too much top-end bight and was looking for a different sound.
Although I have come across your website before this was the first opportunity I have had to install your pickups. I must say that I like these pickups very much. They have a lot of punch and work really well for someone who plays a lot of rhythm and is looking for a sound that cuts through the mix. More P90 than classic humbucker. Hit the strings hard and the pickups respond well and maintain their clarity. Add some gain on the amp and pickups produce a nice gritty, aggressive sound.
I wired it in, it sounds great! still haven't tried it with my proper amp but it sounds great in all positions! neck sounds rich and full, bridge sounds nice and crunchy yet clear, tapped bridge sounds akin to a jaguar pickup or tele bridge. I love it!
Sorry to answer so late… The pickups are now on my Jazzmaster, it's just amazing ! Much spanky than the SD but also much warmer and still clear (kind of "3D" sound), even with 250k pot. I left a message about your work on the bigest french guitar forum. I'll try to make some samples and send it to you. Thanks again!
It sounds amazing. Your humbucker allows me to drive the rockerverb a bit further with an amazingly tight low end.
I can now seamlessly go from post rock to stoner rock without even having to change settings on my amp.
Thanks for the amazing work!
Hi Jaime,Pickups are mounted, everything is fine! the sound is amazing, really different from the stock pickups, yours sound a little darker (which is good!) I used to hate the bridge pickup (too bright), now i love what you made for me!
Thanks again Jaime for such a tremendous job & your precious help. This is not the last time you hear from me, i will order again for sure! Now I have the mustang pickups to install but i have to order the guitar first!
Many many thank you’s!
A happy customerThanks for the amazing work!
The pickups sound fantastic, it's hard to translate sound in words, but the sound is more bodied, has more definition and is less aggressive, the dynamic is better and the pickups positions are more balanced. A really nice upgrade!
Sounds awesome. Really jangly, almost like Johnny Marr. Love it mate!
The Jazzmaster pickups are great, thanks a lot! The tone is much more defined but not harsh, warmer but it never gets boomy + it actually sounds like a Jazzmaster :-)! I think the dynamics have improved as well.
The pickups arrived today (they would have arrived sooner but we have had really heavy snow this week) and I have just finished fitting them. They sound great, so much better than the last set I had fitted. I can't wait to try them at rehearsal next week.
The Modern '58 neck is absolutely perfect
Thanks for the pickups. I received them yesterday and installed them today. They sound awesome. Compared to my 'Crafted in Japan' ones they sound a lot fuller.
Got my JAZZMASTER setup, if there is smth better than your Wide Range for JM, I really want to know!
Installed the Widerange for Jazzmaster yesterday in my Elvis Costello signature model. Mighty mighty Pickups! (now I can use bridge and middle position too
Played then them most of yesterday, they sound absolutely wonderful, and through all the valve amps in the house!
Thanks for doing such an amazing job once more!
It's a shame I'm running out of guitars to send you!
So finally got a few days at home and the pickups are in. I simply could not be happier with the result. The widerange adds a whole new dynamic to the sound without moving too far away from the original Jazzmaster sound, and I really like the warmth of the neck pickup. You were totally right going for the classic '58 for the neck, it suits the guitar perfectly. Besides all this, the pickups look totally badass as well .. :)
So thank you again.
Jaime---the wide range jazzmasters are freakin awesome---my Jazzmaster is now a Jazzblaster. Would it be possible to do custom covers in Chrome? My pickguard is mint so the white looks awful.
Hi Jaime, I well received the good JM pu thank you. Nice crafted no problem! Once in place on the guitar and adjusted to the sweet spot they sound really cool. The 58 neck is just what i was wishing to ear from my japan JM: warm and full with sweet just enough snappy highs. A real authentic and vintage feel. The extra wide bridge is amazing as it actualy sounds a little darker than the neck! lots of mids make it a growly/kwaky percusiv bridge sound. Goes well with crunch and result to a punchy middle position with the neck together. Really happy with it all, thank you!
The (Jazzmaster) pickups are absolutely superb! - Better than anything I've fitted in the past.
I've come to the conclusion that I REALLY like these "Extra Width Jazzmaster" pickups. In the past I had a problem with the trebliness of my Antiquity II's. I like my tone quite dark and they always had a trebly edge that I didn't like, I resorted to fitting a 250K volume pot to try and tame them but I still wasn't satisfied. When I fitted the new pickups I put a 1meg pot back in, I roll the tone down to 4 and that is the sound i've always wanted - warm, full and with just enough treble. I also played my Coopersonic Dirtbox for the first proper time yesterday and the 2 seem to go together really well, i'm very happy. I also found myself using the neck pickup, which in the past I have very rarely done. I found the Antiquity II to be a bit too boomy, the new pickup is smooth and a lovely smooth sound. I highly recommend these pickups, i'm seriously considering a pair of Creamery Humbuckers for my B&B Jazzmaster now - i'm that impressed!
Received the pickup today – installed it and it sounds wonderful. A lot fuller than the pickup it replaced. Very impressed – doesn’t sound like a brand new pickup (I mean that as praise). Enough bite without being to brittle. Sounds excellent in all configurations – never was a big fan of the sound of both the pickups together until now. Thanks very much.
I fitted your pickups last night into my J Mascis jazzmaster and all I can say is wow! I was kinda hoping for a modest improvement, but the guitar sounds significantly better. Really I'm gobsmacked. Thanks very much! Once again thanks a lot, money well spent.
Got the new pickup fitted.....it sounds amazing !! Loads off oooomph but still retaining that great "tele" sound...........i love it! Thanks for everything. I'm spreading the word …. First outside gig with new pup yesterday - it sang! Thanks again Jaime!
Gotta say that your pickups really are great and the guitar sounded superb. Just great and I would recommend to anyone.
I had a pre CBS Jazzmaster at school, my last attempt using Seymour Duncan Pick-ups to recreate it, was a disaster. Your pick ups are miles better!
Hi Jaime, received the Extra Width Jazzmaster Pickups on Thursday, fitted today and exceedingly happy - once again, a very satisfied customer. Many thanks.
